By far, our favorite event of the year on Maui is the Maui Film Festival (June 13th-17th.) Watching the sunset over the ocean, then walking over to the grass of a golf course to watch a double feature under the stars? Are you kidding me? And add all the fun parties before and after the films. It’s blissfully fun.
So you want to go? The Maui Film Festival usually runs in mid June of each year, so there’s plenty of time to get ready. We’ve decided to give you a little heads up on what you might need in order to enjoy the festival to its fullest.
Maui Film Festival CHECK LIST
- Tickets to films and parties. Keep in mind that if you buy a ticket to one of the big parties (Ex. Taste of Chocolate at the Four Seasons Wailea), you’ll be given a complimentary movie pass for some of the films. Some of the events sell out, so buy them early. Also, buying them online on their website will get you the best prices.
- Resort Casual Attire. They ask that you dress comfortably but well. At the films, people wear all kinds of things, but for the parties, you’re expected to dress up a bit.
- Celestial Cinema Gear. Unlike watching the film at the MACC, the Celestial Cinema requires a bit more in order to fully enjoy yourself. You’ll need the following: A folding chair (smaller the better), warm clothes (it can get cold especially for the 2nd film, blankets for the kids to lay on, and cash for scrip (plenty of munchies and N/A drinks available for purchase. You can also, some people bring glow in the dark frisbees for the 10-15 minute break between the films. Lots of fun!
Hopefully that helps gear you up for the events. Have fun and let us know how much you’ve enjoyed it. ALOHA!
