By far, our favorite event of the year on Maui is the Maui Film Festival (TBA.)  Watching the sunset over the ocean, then walking over to the grass of a golf course to watch a double feature under the stars?  Are you kidding me?  And add all the fun parties before and after the films.  It’s blissfully fun.

So you want to go?  The Maui Film Festival usually runs in mid June of each year, so there’s plenty of time to get ready.  We’ve decided to give you a little heads up on what you might need in order to enjoy the festival to its fullest.

With a lineup of almost four dozen hand-selected original films, a number of stunning venues, and several five-star culinary events, the Maui Film Festival has time and time again proved itself to be one of the most distinguished and exciting events to take place on the Valley Isle. Now in its 21st year, what can festival-goers expect from the 2020 Maui Film Festival?

In a nutshell: film, food, and stars- and by stars, I mean the ones that light up both the night sky and the big screen.

While the films and honorees have yet to be announced, we have no doubt that they will perfectly illustrate the Maui Film Festival’s goal of celebrating the very best in the art of cinema today.

The Maui Film Festival also pays homage to Maui’s thriving culinary scene, honoring the very best chefs on the island as well as locally sourced ingredients at three ‘Taste’ events. The festivities kick off on June 17 with ‘Taste of Summer’, where guests can mingle with the Maui Film Festival honorees, enjoy creative cocktails, and sample some delectable five-star dishes on the oceanfront in Wailea. The ‘Taste of Summer’ location is yet to be announced, so stay tuned.

‘Taste of Chocolate’ follows on June 19 at the Four Seasons Resort, where guests can dress to impress and indulge their sweet tooth with a variety of scrumptious, chocolatey treats (yes, there will be a chocolate fountain!).

The ‘Taste’ events conclude with the impressive ‘Taste of Wailea’, held at the Wailea Golf Club on June 20. The best of the best of Maui’s chefs gather to display their culinary expertise, and guests are invited to sample each and every culinary delight. It’s advised to come on an empty stomach, each year features an incredible line-up of mouthwatering dishes, and there is more than enough to go around.
